What does the Bible say about inflation?

December 22, 2022

Welcome friends and family,
Today I would like to discuss a hot topic. This topic really is at the heart of frustration for many people in America today.
The topic is inflation.
What do you feel the source of inflation is?
I served a mission in the andes mountains in Peru. Before that I had worked for a paving company and had the chance to work on multiple different types of equipment. I was able to see how companies prepared the ground for asphalt then the process of placing that asphalt. It is not as simple as it seems and there are inspectors who make certain that the quality of the finished product is not ever compromised.
While I was in Peru I saw a paving company paving a national highway and it was disheartening because the contractor was paving with subpar materials and equipment and was paving very thin roads with little to no preparation done. I asked my friend who had extensive knowledge about it and he told me this:
When a contract is awarded many times the contractor will bribe the government official that awarded them the contract. Then to maximize profits the contractor would only use half the material and cut corners.
There is a scripture in the bible that talks about the people of Judah having a bag with two separate weights in it. They were basically using different standards depending on what transaction they were doing. Can you start to see the corollary here?
We are given one standard at the beginning of the year and then at the end of the year the standard is progressively watered down. People often say “oh things just go up over time”. That is only what we have been conditioned to accept.
The standard that I am talking about throughout the entire world is the US dollar. Many other countries use the US dollar as a source of stability or a standard. The value of any fiat money is based on the scarcity of it and the taxes collected to support it. When a government prints more money than it is given authority (based on taxation and scarcity) to do so it creates a situation where the value of that fiat is worth less than it was before. It is theft, “and falsifying the balances by deceit…” (Amos 8:5)
May God bless you, Eternally.
